Time Out says

A concept that is enjoying increasing popularity is Istanbul’s restaurant scene is bringing food and art together. Once inside Sim Pera, a new venue in Beyoğlu, you immediately encounter owner Ayça Tüylüoğlu’s collection of artworks and art books. Besides the artwork, though the interior design is plain and simple, so as not to be distracting, much like in a gallery.

The broad and diverse food menu served at Sim Pera also has an artistic flair. The kitchen uses organic fruits and vegetables, and they bake their bread in house. Some favourite menu items are the soup of the day, steak sandwich (31 TL), lamb shank (28 TL) and grilled sea bass (31 TL). The lamb shank is so moist and soft that the fork slides right through the meat to the bone. Don’t skip the fresh sorbet, made with tangerines from Bodrum, to finish off your meal.

Open only until 18.00, Sim Pera is a great place for a business lunch or a healthy midday meal. The restaurant also has a corner selling books, handbags and other accessories, including those made in association with the Kamer women’s organisation, which supports handicraft production and women’s employment in Turkey. In the future, Sim Pera also hopes to host art events and workshops.
