This brasserie-café is a joint project among Ulus 29 and Beymen Brasserie owner Metin Fadıllıoğlu, Mine Türkantos and Salih Karadağ. It offers Turkish interpretations on world fare classics. The interior is simple and elegant, while the terrace is sure to be a hit in the summer.
We begin our lunch with a refreshing mozzarella and tomato bruschetta (22 TL). Walkin 29 is ambitious when it comes to offering the best imported ingredients, as is evident from the tasty cheese. If you’re in the mood for a slightly more filling starter, the minced beef taco with Mexican beans, cheddar cheese and jalapeño, served with guacamole and salsa cream, is as close to the original as you can get hereabouts.For a filling lunch, try the Café de Paris steak (46 TL) or cheeseburger (32 TL), both of which are as tender as can be. Don’t even think about missing out on the chips fried in truffle oil: the single word that springs to mind here is perfection.
The cocktails are just as enticing, so we give the Sundose (29 TL) made with satsuma, orange liqueur and lemons a try. It’s got a bit of a kick for lunch but would be perfect for a weekend brunch.
For dessert, opt for the mille-feuille with forest fruits (17 TL), a perfect combination of flavourful fruits, cream and just the right amount of powdered sugar.
