In November 2013 Studio X was founded as an initiative of Columbia University as an ‘urban laboratory’ in Istanbul, inviting you to consider the future of the city. Studio X is an entity created by Mark Wigley, head of the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation department. The foundation for Studio X was laid in New York in 2008; following the branches in Beijing, Mumbai, and Rio de Janerio smaller sister branches were founded in Amman, São Paulo and Tokyo. Studio X was created to bring together experts, artists, citizens, and municipal authorities to address issues related to the city and to discuss innovative and creative ideas.
