Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, better known to the world as Doja Cat, is all set to perform at SunBet Arena Time Square on Friday night as part of the Move Afrika experience.

While she may have been born in the United States, Doja Cat has strong ties to South Africa. Her father is actor and dancer Dumisani Dlamini, who is known for his roles in 'Sarafina!' and 'Yizo Yizo'.

This makes her performance on Friday something of a homecoming - with the anticipation for her appearance reaching fever pitch across the province of Gauteng and beyond.

The music (and more) that made her

Since her debut album 'Amala' in 2018 to the release of 'Vie' in 2025, Doja Cat hasn't been afraid to shake up the music scene, earning fans thanks to her hit music, eclectic persona, and brilliant marketing tactics.

A Grammy, three American Music Awards, and a plethora of other important accolades have capped a career to date which the artist herself attributes to the influence of her mother and the music she was exposed to as a child.

Hit singles such as 'Kiss Me More', 'Woman', 'Paint The Town Red', and 'Streets' have all been streamed over a billion times on Spotify, proving her ability to entrench herself within the modern-day music culture and beyond.

Her deep understanding of the cultural nuances of Gen-Z and the fashion world, matched with an unapologetic attitude when it comes to being herself, have helped to created a marketing juggernaut under the Doja Cat name - proving that if you understand the world around you, you can speak first-hand to it... and benefit greatly from it.

What to expect from Doja Cat on Friday

While we are not privy to the exact details of her show, what we do know is that if her previous performances are anything to go by, we are in for a real treat.

Her ability to express herself through more than just her music is expected to be a stand-out aspect of the concert, with her fashion choices likely to raise a few eyebrows - in a good way.

In terms of the songs we fully expect her to perform, these are a few which we are most looking forward to:

'Paint The Town Red'

'Streets'

'Kiss Me More featuring SZA'

'Say So'
