Last month, we confirmed Kanye West, or Ye as he’s now known, is bringing his long-rumoured Ye Live in South Africa concert to Johannesburg's Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday, 13 December 2025.

When Ye first hinted at the show on social media earlier, fans were understandably cautious. With Hey Neighbour Festival’s recent abrupt cancellation still fresh in the city’s memory, Joburgers are now wary of grand announcements that don’t materialise.

But this time, the details check out. The concert is fully verified, with Ye’s executive producer and production team having already visited Ellis Park to finalise logistics and sign agreements with local organisers. Ticket sales are live, partners are confirmed, and plans are locked in, giving fans every reason to believe that Ye really is about to touch down in Joburg.

The concert, presented by Monyake Group, Jay Carson & Co., and Ticketpro, promises a full-scale production that will showcase Ye’s 29-year music legacy, blending art, sound, and spectacle in true Ye fashion.

“Ye is a name that speaks for itself,” says Jay Carson, Event Curator at Jay Carson & Co. “We are proud and excited to bring such a prolific artist for a night to remember. We can guarantee a show with top-tier production levels, amazing music, and what will feel like home to all fans, both old and new.”

The setlist is still under wraps, but fans can expect a career-spanning performance filled with Ye’s most iconic hits: Through The Wire, Jesus Walks, Good Life, Can’t Tell Me Nothing, Bound 2, Water and more, alongside a production that’s bold, immersive, and uniquely Ye.

Why is Ye performing at Ellis Park Stadium?

One of the reasons fans weren't entirely buying into Ye's concert announcement was the choice of venue. FNB Stadium has become the gold standard for global performers coming to South Africa, with the likes of Chris Brown and Travis Scott most recently shaking the foundations, but with a capacity of 60,000, Ellis Park Stadium (known as Emirates Airline Park for sponsorship reasons) is an inspired choice.

It’s one of Johannesburg’s most historic venues, famous for hosting the 1995 Rugby World Cup final and numerous international music acts. Ye’s production team has already conducted technical assessments on-site, ensuring the show will meet international standards for sound, staging, and visuals. Expect an arena-scale spectacle worthy of a global superstar.

Smooth logistics and seamless experience

Organisers are prioritising fan safety and convenience, with plans in place for clear signage, strong security, emergency services, and well-kept stadium surroundings.

Although driving and e-hailing to the event will be permitted, fans are encouraged to purchase Park and Ride tickets to avoid long delays getting to and from the stadium.

“This is a fully verified event supported by all official partners,” organisers confirmed. “Fans can expect a high-end, curated show that prioritises not just performance, but the overall experience, from transport and food vendors to safety and service.”

Tickets and pricing

Tickets are available now on Ticketpro and at selected SPAR, Choppies, Edgars, Jet, and PostNet stores nationwide.

Given the size of Ye’s fan base and the official confirmation, tickets are expected to sell out fast. One thing’s for sure, I’ll be there, surrounded by thousands of fans, belting out “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” at the top of my lungs. Because when Ye finally steps onto that Ellis Park stage, Johannesburg won’t just be watching, it’ll be celebrating.
