In line with the Getty Villa exhibition, The Last Days of Pompeii: Decadence, Apocalypse, Resurrection, the Egyptian Theatre will screen the rare 1926 silent film The Last Days of Pompeii with live musical accompaniment. Directed by Carmine Gallone and Amleto Palermi, film connoisseurs can experience one of the first US screenings of the incredibly rare 35mm print. A tale of the days before Mt. Vesuvius' famous eruption, the film follows the life of a Roman legionnaire while boasting intricate sets, costumes, and scenes of disaster.
