Wooden Shjips

San Francisco quartet Wooden Shjips (gotta love the spelling) turn out fuzzed-up pyschedelic rock with a hint of Krautrock that will appeal to the hippie in you. Leader Ripley Johnson originally formed the band with the intention of creating music with a group of non-musicians, in the hope that untrained players could contribute a fresh outlook. But once Rolling Stone caught wind of them, the band lost its right to obscurity. Catch them at this intimate Echo show. Fellow NorCal band Carlton Melton will open with their one-take instrumental psychedelic music.
