Metal Museum says
This class is a hands-on course covering various methods of performing granulation. We will look at simple torch firing as well as the use of kilns and fusion furnaces. The emphasis will be on learning the “How’s” and “Why’s” of this ancient technique and it’s applications for contemporary metalsmiths. Doug will demonstrate granulation primarily in fine silver but will also cover gold and sterling. Students will use fine silver. It is comparable to working in high karat gold without the expense.
