Kicking Off The Cy Festival August 6, 2015! says
In celebration of our 2015 poster artist, Gino Barzizza, and our 28th year of the Evolve Bank & Trust Cooper Young Festival, everyone is invited to join us for a Kickoff Party / Poster Unveiling on Thursday, August 6 at CoWork Memphis located at 902 South Cooper Street from 6 - 8 p.m.

The talented Gino Barzizza will be on-hand at the party to describe his thoughts while he was drawing the 2015 Cooper Young Festival poster. Gino is a Midtown Memphis-based illustrator, designer, tinkerer, writer, and all-time creative. He is the creative brain behind HungryFire Workshop. Gino attended Syracuse University and the School of Visual Arts in New York City and has designed work for Toyota, NBC Universal, HBO, HSBC, among others. Gino finds inspiration in the people and music of Memphis, his place of birth.

This year’s poster art is a play on the diversity of the businesses, attendees, artists and musicians that make up the whole Cooper Young Festival experience. Stephen Crump, Vice President of the CYBA, stated that “Gino is an exceptional artist with an array of graphic skills and a brilliant imagination.”

Local musician, Josh Threlkeld will be playing live with his band on this evening. Josh’s music has been described as if James Taylor got infected by the same South African bug that bit Dave Matthews and become alternately possessed by the spirit of Otis Redding and Aaron Copland. Josh is calling it Acoustic Soul and his guitar-carrying chords and heart searching vocals match that description perfectly.

A visual history of all posters for the past 27 years will be on display along with live music, refreshments by Alchemy, wine and beer bars. We encourage you to come help us celebrate the biggest party of the summer – Cooper Young Festival!

Thank you to our sponsors for making this year’s Cooper Young Festival possible.
