European Floral Design with Francoise Weeks

Portland based designer Francoise Weeks was born in Belgium. She developed her lush and textural style of design while training with florists of Antwerp, heavily influenced by the floral arrangements of 17th and 18th century Dutch and Flemish painters. Her portfolio ranges from elegant natural simplicity to the abundant and bountiful. Recently her work has emerged into two distinctive styles, one of woodland mosses, lichens, and bark and the other exquisite botanical haute couture creations of purses, headpieces and shoes using flowers, herbs, fruits, vegetables and foliage.

She shares her knowledge for floral design and mechanics with professionals and students from around the world in an intimate studio setting. Francoise has been the subject of numerous magazine articles throughout the United States and Europe.

The Phoebe Cook Lecture Series is co-sponsored by the Memphis Garden Club, a member of the Garden Club of America, and Dixon Gallery and Gardens. This series provides an opportunity to bring outstanding speakers in horticulture, conservation, and floriculture to Memphis. The series was established and endowed by the late Phoebe Cook Welsh in memory of her mother, Phoebe Cook. Gifts from Welsh’s family, the Memphis Garden Club, and friends in the Memphis community continue to fund the series. Free with regular admission.
