Sleepwlkrs. Justin Bloss Trio. Chris Curtis. Friday, June 5 says
A great show Friday with popular new band out of U of M, Sleepwlkrs playing unplugged, and Justin Bloss Trio bringing their brand of "sad bastard country" to Otherlands. Chris Curtis, a fine new Memphis songwriter opens the show at 8 sharp.

SLEEPWLKRS is an indie rock band from Memphis, TN here to wake up society with the power of music. Their sound is a modern, alternative rock with roots in punk taking inspiration from bands such as Brand New, Paramore, Grace Potter, the Black Keys, and Jimmy Eat World to name a few.

Formed in late 2014, the band is comprised of vocalists Megan Carolan and Troy Waterman, guitarists Eli Wilson and AJ Peterson, bassist Stephen Moo-Young, and drummer Patrick Curran. The group met while attending school in the Bluff City and use its rich music history to their advantage. As a college band you never graduate from, their name pays homage to their school days of late night cramming and practices - their dedication turning them into "sleep walkers."

With an avant-garde attitude, Sleepwlkrs has charged full speed into the Memphis music scene playing shows around town nearly every week. With no signs of slowing down, the band is currently working on their debut EP set to be released later this year, and they hope to take the show on the road with a tour by the end of 2015.

JUSTIN BLOSS TRIO. Justin Bloss comes to us from out in the Oklahoma Territories and he lives up to that great songwriting, performing tradition. He's been playing around town at Kudzus and The Poplar Lounge. Now he's got a trio and he's ready to bring some country western and bluegrass flavor to Otherlands.

He's backed by fiddler Adam Brooks (Mechanicsville, VA) and on upright bass by Andrew Geraci (Clarksdale, MS). It's going to be an exciting set.

CHRIS CURTIS opens the show at 8 sharp. He comes to Memphis from Dyersburg and has played several of our New Artist shows getting a great response at each. Get here early on Friday to catch his whole set and get a good seat for the whole show. You can check out his music here.
