September 2013, Wand was quietly dismembered and ritually eaten in the hills near Dodger Stadium. Wand reborn as “Wand”— an obese organ falsely organized as 4 overjoyous nerds. Four flesh balloons betting on a few aging amplifiers. I hear they listen to Here Come the Warm Jets on loop all day and plot mail fraud. I hear they stole Dale Crover’s car and sacrificed it to the weather near the Los Angeles County Line. Some few things, at least, are certain: Wand hears ghosts. Wand prefers serpents. The Sun is the mother of every fiction. All phenomena will be consumed in alphabetical order, but desire will recirculate ad infinitum. If all else fails, Wand will just devour more hands.

"Frontman Cory Thomas Hanson is a mover himself. In addition to playing (usually fleetingly) with a wide array of fellow L.A. garage-rockers over the past few years, from together PANGEA to Meatbodies to Mikal Cronin, the singer/guitarist/keyboardist helms the electronic pop project WHITE." - Pitchfork

BABES is a punk/swamp/rock group based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. The trio—guitarist Ian Adams, drummer Sam Yoger, and synth player/vocalist Rhodes Murphy give a darker interpretation of garage and punk music, with spazzy riffs and stripped down compositions accompanied by wild guitar and gurgling synthesizer bass. The group began in 2011 and their success is a statement against the old funkadelic vanguard of the New Orleans music scene, joining others who prove there is more to “New Orleans music” than jazz standards and Meters covers. The group’s stage antics and infectious tunes have earned them wide recognition in the New Orleans area and beyond.

In a short few years, BABES has had the opportunity to play in support of Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, FUZZ, Japanther, NoBunny, The Magnetix, Ex-Cult, Natural Child, Catholic Spray, and the Dum Dum Girlsamong many other well-known national garage and punk rock acts. In 2013 BABES released their debut LP on Pizza Burglar Records and embarked on their first tour of the Midwest, playing with Quintron and Miss Pussycat, CAVE, and Buck Biloxi and the Fucks.
