We treated two Brickellites who’d never met to a night out in Little Havana. Just how spicy did things get?

The Drinks: Ball & Chain

Juan Marcos:

“It was a night of firsts: first meal at Ball & Chain, first blind date and first time being followed around by a photographer. It was a lot to take in! The food was very good.”

Stephanie:

“He had the Cuban egg rolls, and I ordered fish tacos and a mojito. Our waitress forgot to bring us sharing plates, so we wound up eating off each other’s.”

The Dancing: Ball & Chain

Juan Marcos:

“I’m a little bit of a seasoned salsa dancer. She is Colombian and I’m Cuban, so we have different dancing styles. I guess [the lesson] was a good approach to learning how to dance together.”

Stephanie:

“Our instructor taught us the basics, which was confusing. I salsa dance but have never done the steps we learned. It was fun until I saw everyone staring at us.”

The Dessert: Azucar Ice Cream Company

Juan Marcos:

“I had El Mani Loco (“the Crazy Peanut”): vanilla ice cream blended with lots of peanuts and peanut butter. I’m a peanut-butter fiend, but I didn’t know what to expect. I loved it.”

Stephanie:

“It was my first time at Azucar. I’d been wanting to go but didn’t have anyone to go with. The Café Con Leche (coffee ice cream with Oreos) was delicious!”

The Verdict

Juan Marcos: ♥♥♥

“First dates are about first impressions: You get to know someone and take it from there. Stephanie is someone I’d like to get to know, even if it only blossoms into a friendship.”

Stephanie: ♥♥♥

“He was really fun and easy to talk to. I’d never been on a blind date (I was totally out of my comfort zone!), and I would see him again.”
