Late Wednesday, Mayor Gimenez implemented Miami’s first round of mandatory evacuations. The Mayor’s statement urges those in “mobile homes, residents of Zone A, and the Barrier Islands, which include: Bal Harbour, Bay Harbour Islands, Golden Beach, Indian Creek Village, Miami Beach, North Bay Village, Sunny Isles Beach and Surfside” to seek shelter outside evacuation zones.
The order went into effect at 7am today. Here’s how to find out which evacuation zone you live in, in case you don’t already know. If Irma continues to track towards South Florida, more evacuations are sure to be ordered. Keep up to date by following the Mayor’s official Facebook and Twitter pages.
