In case the spate of new plant-based spots hasn't tipped you off, meatless dining is so hot right now—and we're totally digging it.

The latest business to follow the trend: Soul Tavern (1801 West Ave, Miami Beach; 305-925-0799, soultavern.com). Set to open next Friday, July 14, the Sunset Harbour restaurant bills itself as the city's first gastropub: part bar, part restaurant, Soul Tavern focuses on vegetarian comfort food and healthy elixirs served in a laidback setting.

Just like a typical gastropub, Soul Tavern serves pizza, burgers and beers. There's the shareable Soul Fired pie topped with ginseng, antioxidant-rich pomegranate and pistachios; the hearty Porto burger made with portobello mushroom and caramelized onions; and a variety of veggie-based sushi rolls.

Are the nights of pounding brews catching up to you? The gastropub's sommelier, Dale Thomas Vaughn, created a line of 37 Chinese herbal elixirs that do everything from soothe achy muscles and calm mood swings to help you sleep better. These can be ordered hot or cold, and even pair well with a beer. That's what we call a balanced diet.
