If your favorite bartender was missing in action this past week, chances are they were at the annual Tales of the Cocktail festival, a New Orleans gathering of the industry’s best.

The six-day festival is full of panels, events and—one would presume—copious amounts of drinking very tasty cocktails. But the true pinnacle of the week happens at the Spirited Awards, which are essentially the Oscars of cocktail culture. The competition is fierce and the categories—split into American, international and global—range from Best Bar Team to Best New Cocktail Ingredient.

And one of those categories went to none other than Miami’s own Sweet Liberty. The gang from one of our favorite Miami Beach bars took home the trophy for Best American High Volume Cocktail Bar, and if you’ve ever seen Sweet Liberty operating at full capacity on a Saturday night, somehow managing to provide a packed house with quality craft cocktails, you know it’s well deserved.

The winner of this year’s coveted World’s Best Bar went to our friends across the pond at Dandelyan.

Hopefully, next year that prize will belong to the 305, but, in the meantime, congratulations to Sweet Liberty, who—we would just like to point out—was given our very own Bar Award for Bar of the Year last month.
