Voting is now open for the first ever Time Out Love Miami Awards, and we’re asking you to nominate your most loved local venues. But in a city with so many awesome spots, we know it’s tough to narrow it down to just a few—so we’ve sought inspiration from several local bloggers and influencers who keep steady fingers on the pulse of Miami. Think you’ve experienced everything there is to do in South Beach? We tapped Prism Creative Group’s director of storytelling, Pola Bunster, to share some of her lesser-known spots and favorite #miamigems in the neighborhood.

Most loved coffee place: Panther Coffee

It might not be the Wynwood flagship, but it’s just as central an anchor to the Sunset Harbour neighborhood. You can spend a whole day here, wired off of only one cup of their signature cold brew.

Most loved landmark: Wolfsonian-FIU

Just from the outside, the Wolfsonian is a stunning piece of architecture. What’s inside is an absolute treasure of period pieces and innovative marvels. But our favorite thing is the gift shop and café bar, where you can happy hour among history.

Most loved club/party: Purdy Lounge

We know the beach has its fair share of clubs, but Purdy never fails to satiate our college partying needs. They have everything from reggae nights to hip-hop Sundays, and for being on the beach, their prices and vibes feel very mainland.

Most loved place to drink in the sun: Broken Shaker at the Freehand Miami

We know The Shaker is on basically every Beach roundup, but there’s a reason. Their incredibly flavorful drinks are always on point, and not to mention how eclectic, charming, and friendly the location is—a true rarity in Miami. You’d think over the years it would get saturated, but the opposite is true: it’s gotten better with age.

Most loved restaurant: Under the Mango Tree

We know that South Beach isn’t bare of great eats, but we love Under the Mango Tree’s local vibe. They have everything from acai bowls and sandwiches to an actual mango tree inside. It’s tiny and always packed, but with the kind of friendly energy you only get from a place that feels like it’s been there forever.

Most loved shop: Books & Books

Tucked away along the shopping destination that is Lincoln Road, we can’t overlook the hours we’ve spent at Books & Books. Their curated selection is always on point, and we always walk away with new favorites. It’s a local staple.

Most loved park: South Pointe Park

The beach also boasts a great amount of greenery along the sand, but we love South Pointe best. You have the best of both worlds: concrete for exercising and strolling, a boardwalk for that ocean breeze, and the rolling lawns for just lounging the day away.

Most loved movie theater: Regal Cinema South Beach

We know it’s not boutique or indie, but the Regal never disappoints. They always have a great mix of foreign, indie, and mainstream flicks and we love going there during the Miami Film Festival.

Most loved brunch spot: The Local House

Nestled inside the Sense Beach House, The Local House is a complete local secret we’re glad to share. You’ve got every brunch staple on the menu, from bennies to avo toast, all locally-curated and seriously low-key delicious.

Most loved LGBTQ hangout: Miami Beach Gay Pride

It might be the landmark for LGBTQ culture, but we look forward to Gay Pride year after year. It’s the only time every single person from all walks of life, identities, or beliefs is welcome to roam free and be themselves. It’s beautiful to experience.

Most loved music venue: The Fillmore Miami Beach

You can’t do a beach roundup without The Fillmore. Not only is the building itself, or the woman it’s named after, a historical gem, it’s also the key venue for some of our favorite national and international touring artists.

Most loved culture spot: Soundscape Park for the NWS Wallcast concerts

Soundscape Park alone is a marvel to behold. But it comes alive when NWS projects its WALLCAST concerts which are free and open to the community (over favorite). It’s awesome to grab a crew, bring a picnic and blanket and take it some of the best classical music around.
