Forget the drive-in. Here comes the float-in.

This summer, Miami is getting its own floating movie night where everyone sits in boats. The pop-up experience will be organized by Beyond Cinema, an Australian production company that’s already scheduled these across cities such as Paris, New York and Chicago. Miami’s will take place on September 9 through September 13.

Like a regular drive-in where guests watch from their own cars, seating for the Floating Cinema will be on—what else?—mini boats. Each vessel, of which they’re expecting to have anywhere from 12 to 24, will hold up to eight people. Tickets will be sold per boat, not per person, so you’ll need to gather the troops for viewing. Currently, sitting in a boat with eight people is highly dangerous and doesn’t follow the rules of social-distancing. But, fingers-crossed, September will be an entirely different scenario where hanging out with friends is allowed once again.

So, what will play on the buoyant screens? According to the site, there’ll be a mix of classic flicks and new releases. No matter what’s playing, everyone will receive free popcorn and have the opportunity to purchase additional snacks and drinks. Boats and booze are a very Miami combination but don’t expect the kind of show you’re used to seeing out on the sandbars. Pre-registration is open now
