Brickell’s condo boom has, in part, been great for the city. There are more rooftop bars and restaurants, plus a brand new spate of sparkling pools for us to sneak into. But the ever-expanding skyline has also aided in pushing out smaller operations. The latest casualty: Perricone’s Marketplace & Cafe, the ramshackle-house-turned-charming-restaurant that’s thrived on the same Brickell corner for the last 22 years. But not for long.

Perricone’s, as we know it, will seize to exist on January 18, 2019. It will close temporarily and reopen in the spring at its new permanent location in west Brickell, near the Roads (1700 SW Third Ave). With more land to work with, plans for the revamped Perricone’s include a 2,600-square-foot cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, plus a larger marketplace that’s equal in size to the dining room.

What does this mean for Perricone’s famous Tuesday BOGO sandwich special? We can only hope more space doesn’t come at the expense of the deal. Though just like the Brickell skyscrapers, the chances are high.
