Has your neighborhood coffee house run you out for using their Wi-Fi and never buying a drink? Are you a digital nomad looking for a new place to work and caffeinate? You’re in luck.

Paul Massard and Chris Nolte, the duo behind Miami-based Per’La Speciality Roasters, and Giorgio Rapicavoli of Coral Gables’s Eating House have partnered on a new coffee shop in Coral Gables. House of Perla (2626 Ponce de Leon Blvd, Coral Gables) officially opened its doors on Monday, October 1, in the former Cafe Curuba spot in the Gables. Still operating as a pop-up, the shop opens 7:30am to 5pm, though the latest hours and information are posted on Per’La’s Instagram account daily.

Rapicavoli plans to keep Curuba favorites like the doughy pan de bono and add new local vendors to the mix. Ariete’s Pastelito Papi— the Cuban pastry wizard known for making irreverent flavors such as PB&J, mamey, and frita—is one you might see soon. Plus, with Rapicavoli overseeing the menu, you can expect an assortment of indulgent desserts to pair with your cold brew, including the mouthwatering croissant and brioche french toast bread pudding the chef recently shared on his Instagram. We’ll let that one sink in for a minute.
