Food Envy: White Pie at Peace Pie

We’ve been eating a lot of food at Time Out Market Miami, and now we’re dishing on some of our favorite plates

July 2021: Peace Pie is no longer at Time Out Market Miami, and has since closed.

Welcome to Food Envy, where we’ll highlight different dishes from Time Out Market Miami that we think you’re going to love—partly because we do. This week, we’re dishing on our favorite sauce-free pizza in the city, the white pie from Peace Pie.

When I think of Italian food, I think of red sauce. The same goes for pizza, which, in case you forgot, is also from Italy. There’s a dissonance that happens when someone offers me a white pizza, a sauce-free pie that as far as I’m concerned is not pizza. Call it a flatbread, call it an open-faced sandwich—anything but a pizza, please.

I remain firm on my stance but it doesn’t mean I don’t get down with a good white pie (see what I did there?). The one at Peace Pie in Time Out Market Miami is one I never hesitate to order because what it lacks in sauce it makes up for in toppings and taste. It’s got dollops of tangy ricotta cheese, strips of buttery prosciutto, plump cherry tomatoes scattered about, mounds of arugula as a fresh topper and a drizzle of local honey as a delicious finisher. It’s sweet and salty and, thanks to the bonus greens, fools us into thinking we had a salad. That’s what I consider a win-in. Calling this a white pie is somewhat of a misnomer—it’s colorful with vibrant flavors.

The moral of this story is don’t be like me. Step outside of your pizza comfort zone and give something without sauce a try. You may end up loving it, which I admittedly did.
