Editor’s note: This post has been updated with additional information from the county. As of June 8, the new date for reopening is Wednesday, June 10.

We shared the news last week but now it’s official: Miami-Dade beaches and hotels will be allowed to reopen on June 10. Mayor Carlos Giménez made the announcement on Wednesday during a virtual press conference, where he outlined some of the safety measures hotels will be required to take as well as the social-distancing guidelines beachgoers will need to follow.

Unlike the beaches in Broward County, which reopened on May 26 with stringent requirements, Miami-Dade’s will have fewer restrictions—including allowing visitors to bring towels and sunbathe. As is true of all reopenings, people will need to remain at least six-feet apart from one another unless they reside within the same household. Below, a breakdown of the dos and don’ts to follow when visiting a Miami beach this summer.

Things you CAN do
1. Lie on the beach
2. Bring your own beach chair and towels
3. Sunbathe
4. Engage in watersports and activities: swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling. Walking and jogging along the shore are also permitted.
5. Go without a mask while you’re on the sand while keeping a distance of six feet from others.
6. Rent chairs and umbrellas rentals; concessionaires must thoroughly disinfect them between uses.
7. Use public restrooms—but you must wear a mask.
8. Gather in groups of 10 people or less if you don’t live within the same household. If you don’t live under the same roof, you’ll need to maintain a distance of six feet.

Things you CAN’T do
1. Gather in groups larger than 10 people
2. No organized sports, such as volleyball, soccer or frisbee.
3. Bring large tents though small umbrellas are ok. Double-up on sunscreen and find another safe way to shield you and yours from the sun.
4. Go to the bathroom or concession stand without a face covering. Masks are required for both instances and should be readily available at all times.
5. No pets or dogs will be allowed on the beach.
