First Fridays Beach Picnic

For its last bash of the summer, First Fridays hosts Savasana on the Sand: a Zen picnic featuring complimentary yoga, guided meditation, crystal healing sessions, sound bowl demos and mini spa treatments like yummy salt scrubs and an essential oil station. In keeping with the theme, there’ll be organic juices and healthy bites served throughout. Plus, everyone is encouraged to bring their mango surplus to make fresh smoothies to share. The picnic takes place on the sand behind the Surfside Community Center.

FLOAT: A Caravel’s Journey

Participants in Vizcaya’s summer workshops are ready to show off the fruits of their artistic labor. This third and final illuminated parade features works created by the students of the museum’s processional arts classes, including oversize lanterns in nautical shapes that tell Vizcaya’s unique relationship with the water that surrounds it.

Classic Albums Live: Fleetwood Mac, Rumours

Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours is a godly record. Defined by the band’s efforts to keep it together while their relationships were falling apart, the record’s songs, from “Dreams” to “Go Your Own Way” drip with as much angst as they do beauty. And now you can hear them live, as an ensemble of professional musicians plays them all.

Vans Warped Tour

We know what you’re thinking: “Warped Tour? I stopped going when I was 15!” But that’s exactly why you should go this year—it’s the final one. This may be your last chance to hear all the bands you’re embarrassed to have ever loved: 3OH!3, Simple Plan and others will be there.

South Beach Mango Festival

Sure, you’ve probably gotten so many mangoes from friends and neighbors offloading them on everyone in sight that you’re sick of them. Too bad! Mango season isn’t over yet, thanks to the Miami Beach Mango Festival. The first annual edition features a farmers’ market, tasting demos, a kids’ area and much more.

Spillover Oyster Bash

A made-up holiday you should give a shuck about: National Oyster Day. OK—terrible mollusk pun aside, Coconut Grove’s the Spillover makes it worth your while to pencil in the day and then some. From August 5 through August 9, the restaurant offers a special menu that features po’ boys, shooters and fried appetizers all starring fresh oysters, including the Panacea Pearl, which is sustainably farmed in Florida. Leftover shells are donated to the University of Florida Smyth Lab, so everybody wins.
