This Halloween, Airbnb is rolling out its advanced anti-party technology across Canada, the United States, and Puerto Rico for the fifth consecutive year.
Using machine learning, Airbnb’s proprietary system analyzes entire-home booking attempts over the Halloween weekend for signs of party risk, including reservation length, timing, distance from the guest’s location, and property type.
High-risk bookings are automatically blocked, while guests are encouraged to book private rooms or listings with a host on site.
According to the company’s website, last year alone this technology prevented around 38,000 high-risk bookings in the U.S. and 6,300 in Canada.
Time Out Tip: Airbnb is warning parents and grandparents not to risk their accounts by booking for someone else.
Since Airbnb introduced its global party ban in 2020, reports of disruptive events have dropped by more than 50%, with fewer than 0.035% of stays in 2024 leading to a party allegation.

Airbnb is also reminding users that third-party bookings are prohibited and that all guests must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by a registered adult. Violations can result in suspension or permanent bans, cancellation of future trips, and potential financial liability for damages.
The company continues to lead the industry in proactive safety measures, and its Halloween crackdown is just one layer of a broader effort to foster responsible travel and maintain trust between hosts, guests, and local communities.
