Everything you need to know about Montreal’s Chinese Lunar New Year Parade which is back and bigger (and better) than ever!

Montreal is getting ready to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year, and catching the beloved parade is one of the best things to do in the city right now.
This year, Chinatown will transform into the largest cultural showcase and celebration ever thanks to art installations, culinary delights, workshops, activities and live performances centered around Sun Yat-Sen Park and the nearby Cultural Centre.
We’re talking about lanterns, light projection installations of the 12 zodiac signs and even a photobooth arch.
The fun kicks off on Friday night (February 9, 2024) with traditional and modern Lunar New Year festivities, followed by two full days of celebrations.
Don’t miss Montreal’s Lunar New Year Parade on Saturday, February 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Marvel at the lion and dragon dances, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and good fortune, that will parade through the streets to welcome the Year of the Dragon.
In addition to rhythmic dances winding through the streets of Chinatown to the beat of drums and cymbals, you can also expect a procession of artists wearing intricate costumes and community groups participating in the festivities.
A series of cultural events taking place throughout the weekend, with traditional music, dance, and art demonstrations.
Time Out Tip: Don’t miss the wishing tree in Sun Yat-Sen Park, or the culinary offerings from Chinatown restaurants, which have crafted special menus for the occasion.
