Whether you’re a craft beer connoisseur or a casual pint drinker, this event is for you!
The Beer Bar at Time Out Market Montréal is putting the spotlight on one of our favourite local microbreweries: Pit Caribou.
Established in 2007, Pit Caribou was Eastern Quebec’s first microbrewery. Located in the picturesque fishing village of L’Anse-à-Beaufils, near Percé, their beers are as refreshing as the breathtaking views of the Gaspé Peninsula from the brewery’s terrasse.
Stop by Time Out Market Montréal for the free beer tasting event, and stay for the fall comfort food of your dreams.
What makes Pit Caribou so unique?
The name “Pit Caribou” comes from a character—the village bon vivant Pit Caribou—featured in the classic black-and-white Radio-Canada soap Les Belles Histoires des Pays d’en Haut, which Francis Joncas, one of the brewery’s founders, loved watching as a child.
Character has always been at the heart of Pit Caribou’s creations. Since its founding in 2007 by Francis Joncas and Benoit Couillard, the brewery has produced hundreds of beers, starting with its first two brewed in an old seal processing plant using repurposed dairy farm equipment.
Over the years, the brewery modernized, expanded, and earned multiple awards. In 2019, Jean-François Nellis and Vincent Coderre took over the business, coinciding with the launch of Pit Caribou’s canned beers.
Today, the duo proudly brews a diverse range of offerings, including classic styles, spontaneous fermentation, barrel-aged, and limited-edition beers.
When are the free tastings at Time Out Market Montréal?
Don’t miss the official tasting day on November 6, 2025, from 5-8 p.m. at Time Out Market's Beer Bar (one of seven bars at Time Out Market Montréal) where you can sip away with the brand ambassador during happy hour, and soak up their know-how while discovering their latest brew.
Prost!
What beers will be available at the Market?
These are the three beers that will be available at Time Out Market Montréal this November:
Blanche Framboise
This sipper is the result of Pit Caribou’s Blanche de Pratto infused with Québec raspberries. For the perfect tasting experience, serve alongside cold-smoked salmon.
L’Arlequin
This New England Double IPA is a hazy, full-flavoured strong ale bursting with bright citrus notes. L’Arlequin is named after one of the at-risk species that migrate over the Gaspé Peninsula twice a year.
Rivière Aux Émeraudes
A lightly golden beer with the crisp, grain-forward profile of a Czech pilsner, featuring Saaz hops, and is unfiltered and lagered for 90 days—named after La Rivière-aux-Émeraudes in Percé, famous for its emerald-green waters and enchanting waterfall.
