Montreal drivers are facing a full weekend bridge closure and major highway shutdowns.
Roadwork will lead to a major weekend closure of the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge northbound toward Montreal.
From Friday, August 21 at 11pm until Monday, August 24 at 5am, the northbound span of the bridge will be completely closed for roadwork.
No northbound access to the bridge will be possible for the duration of the closure.

Can you walk on the Samuel De Champlain Bridge?
Yes, typically you can walk across the Samuel De Champlain Bridge via a dedicated 3.4-kilometer multi-use path that connects Nuns' Island (Montreal) to Brossard on the South Shore year-round.
Southbound Closure (Toward South Shore): From Friday, August 21 to Monday, August 24, the multi-use/bike path remains open.
Northbound Closure (Toward Montréal): From Friday, August 28 (11:00 PM) to Monday, August 31 (5:00 AM) the multi-use path will be closed.

What else will be closed?
In addition to the full northbound bridge closure, the following closures will be in effect:
- Highway 15 north, beginning at Exit 6
- Access ramps from Route 132 to Highway 15 north
- Highway 15 north from Exit 6 of Highway 10 west to the Jacques-Le Ber Street entrance ramp on Nuns’ Island
- Entrance ramps from Route 132 East and West toward Highway 10 west, Highway 15 north and Highway 20 west
Where is the detour?
Drivers travelling toward Montreal will be redirected via Route 132 East, Route 134 and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes.
To help avoid congestion, travellers should avoid the area during peak periods and use public transit or work remotely where possible.
Will the Samuel De Champlain Bridge be closed from August 28 to 31?
Roadwork will also close the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge northbound toward Montreal from Friday, August 28 at 11pm to Monday, August 31 at 5am.
Highway 15 North from Exit 6 and access ramps from Route 132 to Highway 15 North will also be closed. No northbound access to the bridge will be possible.
Drivers will be redirected via Route 132 East, Route 134 and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.
