According to a report by the CBC, a small private aircraft crashed while attempting to land on Thursday afternoon.

The report details that the pilot was the only person aboard the aircraft, and was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The airport’s fire department and the Longueuil fire department both responded to the incident.

In a statement, the airport said runway 24R-06L would remain closed until further notice to allow emergency crews to complete their response and that the closure has disrupted commercial flight operations.

The report went on to explain that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday.

The agency said it is gathering information about the crash but does not plan to send investigators to the scene at this time.

What was the largest plane crash in Canada?

The deadliest commercial aviation accident involving a Canadian aircraft occurred near Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, on November 29, 1963.
A Trans-Canada Airlines DC-8F crashed just four minutes after taking off from Montréal–Dorval International Airport, now known as Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.
