Thanks to Monday’s temperatures in southern Quebec climbing to 20–21°C, with the mild spell possibly lasting through Wednesday, the contrast will be striking.

It will feel like spring has finally settled in—but it won’t last long.

Does it snow in April in Montreal?

April can be mild and volatile in Montreal, with the normal high for this time of year in southern Quebec is around 15°C.

Snow in April is not unusual in Montreal, with the city typically seeing an average accumulation of 10–15 cm over the month.

According to The Weather Network, snowfall is more likely earlier in April, when conditions are still colder, but significant storms can still occur later in the month.

(Remember the April 2024 snowstorm that brought more than 30 cm of snow to Downtown Montreal?)

According to a report by MeteoMedia, by midweek the temperature will shift dramatically.

A low-pressure system will trigger a rapid drop in temperatures, with daytime highs falling to around 6°C by the end of the week.

The system will also bring precipitation between Wednesday and Friday, and with colder air in place, some of it could fall as snow in several regions—particularly in the north and west of the province.

Snow may even mix with rain farther south.

The report goes on the detail that next weekend is shaping up to be much cooler, with greyer skies and temperatures well below seasonal norms.
