The largest event of Southern Decadence weekend is the 42nd Annual Southern Decadence Parade on Sunday, September 4 led by SDGMs XLII Tony Leggio, Jeffrey Palmquist, Felicia Phillips & Derek Penton-Robicheaux, celebrating Southern Decadence 45. (www.SouthernDecadence.com)

For the first time in over 10 years the grand marshals have chosen a new parade route.

The parade begins 2pm sharp at the Official Home of Southern Decadence: Golden Lantern, 1239 Royal St., then to St. Louis, right on St. Louis to N. Rampart, right on N. Rampart to Toulouse, right on Toulouse to Burgundy, left on Burgundy to Orleans, left on Orleans to N. Rampart, right on Rampart to St. Philip, right on St. Philip to Dauphine, right on Dauphine to St. Ann, left on St. Ann to Bourbon, left on Bourbon to 901 Bourbon ending at Dumaine.

It includes stops at The Golden Lantern, Double Play, The Corner Pocket, The Page, 700 Club, GrandPre’s, Good Friends, Bourbon Pub, Oz, and Cafe Lafitte in Exile. (There is no fee or registration form to enter the parade. All walkers are welcome. This is a marching parade and no other motor vehicles are allowed nor are any THROWS, due to the type of City of New Orleans permitting. Following the parade is the 23rd Annual Official Southern Decadence Bead Toss hosted by Southern Decadence Grand Marshals XLI Rip and Marsha Naquin-Delain. Hosted from their balcony at the Ambush Mansion, 828 Bourbon Street, the reigning grand marshals will lead the toss at 4pm ish.
