Berz/Cambre/Reve/Moose says
AnxSnd's new music series at AllWays features our longtime Swiss colleague, visiting in-residency drums & electronics instigator Simon Berz, reprising the group he assembled for 2014's residency at Zurich's MOODS jazzclub with New Orleans guitarist Rob Cambre & spoken-word artist Moose Jackson, but tonight with the addition of powerhouse saxophonist Dignity Reve. We are psyched to have Simon back in town for an extended stay, fresh off recent work with luminaries Toshinori Kondo, Baby Sommer, and Burnt Friedman.

MTR Transdisciplinary Studies in the Arts
Simon Berz is a drummer and sound artist. Next to playing in different rock and punk bands, he was interested in improvised music early on. Since several years he develops his own instruments and searches for new possibilities of working with the drum set and percussion. He worked intensely on creating an electrified drumset, using analog electronics and feedbacks, as well as an amplified lithophon, built with stones he found in the Alps.

Simon Berz is also initiator of transdisciplinary art and music happenings. Taking improvised music as a basis, he brings together different artforms, from film and dance to performance and fine arts.

As a drummer and electronic musician, Simon Berz has toured solo and in different formations through Europe, USA, Japan, Cuba, Iceland, Russia and China. He creates music and soundscapes for theatre and film and recently composed and conducted a soundtrack to the silent film Metropolis for screenings in Switzerland and China.
