PORT says
PORT invites practitioners of word, image, sound and movement to a three day micro-residency: Dark Matter. Through a process of conversation, collaboration and presentation, Dark Matter will explore the relationship between the creative and the unknown.

Beginning from a series of curated readings, Dark Matter asks participants to think deeply and curiously about the unexpected, intangible or invisible. Using the diverse perspectives and mediums within the group, we will investigate methodologies and gestures for provoking and enacting the unfamiliar. We intend to work from an ethos of radical generosity and de-hierarchization. The workshop will culminate in an informal sharing of what emerges.

Dark Matter is the first in a series of micro-residencies at PORT, an industrial art space at 2120 Port Street in New Orleans. The workshop will be facilitated by artists Heather Hansen and Valentina Vella, arts writer Jay Murphy, curator Pamala Bishop and associate curator Riley Teahan.

Workshop Dates: November 4-6, 2016. Opportunity includes accommodations and some meals.

To apply for this residency, please send us an email at portartspace@gmail.com by September 30th. Include your name, how Dark Matter intrigues you, and any supplementary information that might help us understand your creative process.
