This sparkling organic wine features a pale, bright silver-yellow, persistent with fine cordons. Aromatic intensity with evident varietal character. Rose petals are at the front while the cool fermentation aromas contribute to the overall complexity. Creamy on the palate with freshness, viracity, intensity and length, a totally new experience.

In 1932, Nikos Athanassiadis, a well-known dry raisin merchant, decided to create a winery in Stamata, Greece. He was drawn to this region near Mount Pendeli for its long viticultural history. A few years later, production began the first bottles of the Athanassiadi wines were sold to various Athens hotels. In the late 1950′s, Mr. Athanassiadis passed away and his daughter assumed control of the winery. Under her direction, noble grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were planted alongside the indigenous varieties. All vines are trained on wires. The recently renovated cellar is furnished with new oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. Presently, the winery is under the control of the third generation of the Harlaftis family.

Our NOTIOS Red (Notios in Greek it means “the Southerner”) is produced from selected Agiorgitiko grapes of exceptional maturity that are cultivated in low-yield, non-irrigated vineyards on the hills surrounding Nemea wine region. The careful winemaking in our modern winery results in a deeply coloured wine with refreshing acidity, velvety mouth feel and intense and persistent aromas of ripe red fruit with elegant notes of butter caramel. This is a wine that can be kept in the cellar for 2-3 years.

Lovely cherry and herb nose is very fine with beguiling red fruits, herbs and liqorice. The palate shows red cherries, plums, spice, leather and herbs, with sweet fruit combining with a strongly savory dimension.
