Amistad will once again participate in the annual community day of giving organized by the Greater New Orleans Foundation. From midnight to midnight on May 3rd, your online donation to Amistad at will be will be amplified by the donations of community sponsors, and will give us the opportunity to earn lagniappe dollars, awards, and hourly prizes.

As Amistad celebrates it's 50th anniversary, we hope to make this year bigger and better than ever! We will host an open house from 5-7 p.m. You can enjoy some music and refreshments, meet the staff and take an after-hours peek at our exhibition, "Here I Found a Goldmine...": Celebrating 50 Years of the Amistad Research Center.

DJ, rapper, producer Nesby Phips has an international sounds that directly draws from the jazz and blues traditions of New Orleans. Over the years, he has produced works by Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Fiend, Aaron Neville, Trombone Shorty, Yin
Yang Twinz, Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Dee-1, and others. His own albums have included The Phipstape (2009), The B-Side (2010), The Catch Up (2011) and Phipstrumentals (2015). He also works in the multimedia world, scoring films and serving as music supervisor for the iPhone video game app, "Mardi Brah." Phips wears an executive hat as owner of his label/production company, Bakadahouse Music, as well as serving as Co-Owner of 0017th record label.
