The New Orleans Art Center, in partnership with See 'Em On Stage: A Production Company, LLC, unveils their August art exhibition "Transcendence" with a sneak preview performance of some numbers from the rock musical LIZZIE which will open on August 11th. August 4th commemorates 124 years to the day that Lizzie Borden's parents were both brutally murdered in broad daylight. While Lizzie Borden was the primary suspect, she was found not guilty at trial and her legend has become part of Amercan folklore.
The event is at 3330 St. Claude Avenue. Feel free to stop by and enjoy some wine, art, and music any time between the hours of 7pm-10pm.
"Transcendence" will feature over 15 local artists with special surprise guest artists. The paintings, photography, and sculpture will set the stage for a vast array of human emotions and experiences as one enters the space of an immersive theatrical enviromnment. Nature, narrative, home, and other themes explored in the musical LIZZIE will be presented.
Performances from the upcoming production of LIZZIE throughout the evening will add to the excitement and allure.
Exhibiting artists include Sergio Alvarez, Muffin Bernstein, Alois Paul Champagne, Ray Cole, Michael Fedor, Mitchell Gaudet, Jim Grice, Christina Juran, Barbie L'Hoste, Samantha Mullen, Brittney Penouilh, Gary Michael Smith, Colleen Shannon, Leona Strassbery Steiner, Alan Zakem, and special guest artists.
See 'Em On Stage Presents: Lizzie stars Idella Johnson, Abbey P. Murrell, Kali Russell, and Leslie L. Claverie as Lizzie Borden. Direction is by Christopher Bentivegna. Music direction is by Ainsley Matich. Choreography is by Clayton Shelvin. Set design is by Yamil Rodriguez and set coordination and construction is by Rebecca Lindell.
