The event creator says
Louisiana Cultural Vistas magazine will host a forum on the history and future of four Confederate monuments in New Orleans that have been targeted for relocation by Mayor Mitch Landrieu. Four historians will discuss the 19th-century origins of the statues of Robert E. Lee, P.G.T. Beauregard and Jefferson Davis and each man's connection to the city. The 1874 Battle of Liberty Place and the obelisk marking its location will also be discussed. The conversation is intended to add a historical perspective to the ongoing debate over how the South interprets the memory of the Civil War and Reconstruction.

The panelists will include:
• Justin Nystrom, assistant professor and director of Loyola University's Documentary and Oral History Studio.
• Greg Osborn, library associate for the New Orleans Public Library.
• Molly Mitchell, associate professor and Ethel and Herman L. Midlo Endowed Chair, Joseph Tregle Professor of Early American History at the University of New Orleans.
• Rosanne Adderley, associate professor of history at Tulane University.
• David Johnson, editor of Louisiana Cultural Vistas, will serve as the moderator.
