There are not many places in Louisiana, much less the planet, where in a single day you'll experience inspirational music from such a wide diversity of cultures and traditions as at The New Orleans Sacred Music Festival. Tibetan Monks Chanting & Dancing, Mardi Gras Indians, Gospel Music, Kirtan Chanting From The Yoga Tradition, Vodou Chanting and Ceremony, Jewish Sacred Music, Japanese Taiko Drumming & Jazz Improvisation, Native American Chants, African Ancestor Celebration, Sound Healing Workshops, Sufi Songs and Muslim Call To Prayer, Spoken Word & Medieval Christian Chants, and so much more. The day begins with a morning peace walk from St Roch cemetery and culminates with the dedication of The International Shrine Of Marie Laveau (You can contribute toward this interactive community art installation at https://dana.io/Shrine-of-Marie-Laveau) In addition to continuous music performances inside Cafe Istanbul performance hall throughout the day, other offerings include a Hindu Fire Sacrifice, the creation of a sand mandala by a group of Tibetan monks, Sacred Art Exhibit, Youth Program, and booths with local craftspeople, artisans, and community organizations. Musicians include Deacon John Moore, Sean Johnson And The Wild Lotus Band, HuDost, Madeto featuring Mayumi Shara and James Singleton, 1 Nation Hunters w/Big Chief Romero, Flag Boy Vern, and Gang Flag T Carter, Vincenzo Pasquantonio, J.C. & Company Gospel Messengers, Cantor David Mintz, Nasr Nance, Tsering Phuntsok, Chuck Perkins and Claudia Copeland, Yogindra Vandana Das, La Source Ancienne Ounfo with Sallie Ann Glassman and Sula Janet Evans, Chief Falokun Adeniji, Mico Red Hawk, and guest MC's Oliver Thomas, Lance Nichols, and Zardis Nichols.
