There are not many places in Louisiana, much less the planet, where in a single day you'll experience inspirational music from such a wide diversity of cultures and traditions as at The New Orleans Sacred Music Festival. Tibetan Monks Chanting & Dancing, Mardi Gras Indians, Gospel Music, Kirtan Chanting From The Yoga Tradition, Vodou Chanting and Ceremony, Jewish Sacred Music, Japanese Taiko Drumming & Jazz Improvisation, Native American Chants, African Ancestor Celebration, Sound Healing Workshops, Sufi Songs and Muslim Call To Prayer, Spoken Word & Medieval Christian Chants, and so much more. The day begins with a morning peace walk from St Roch cemetery and culminates with the dedication of The International Shrine Of Marie Laveau (You can contribute toward this interactive community art installation at https://dana.io/Shrine-of-Marie-Laveau) In addition to continuous music performances inside Cafe Istanbul performance hall throughout the day, other offerings include a Hindu Fire Sacrifice, the creation of a sand mandala by a group of Tibetan monks, Sacred Art Exhibit, Youth Program, and booths with local craftspeople, artisans, and community organizations.
