Touch / capacité by Jenna Bonistalli

‘Touch’ is a selection from a 12 piece series about sensation passing through the body – from one hand to another – balance, tactility and translation. The touch objects for these drawings were magnolia seedpods, fallen after a storm – their bright, bright red seeds exposed. The Magnoliaceae family is a most ancient genus of plants, with fossilized specimens dating back 95 million years. Magnolia flowers appeared even before bees did, evolving to be pollinated by beetles. ‘capacité’ explores the potential energy within and surrounding us in every moment, in constant kinesis.

Jenna Bonistalli is a visual artist living and working in New Orleans, LA. Through handmade paper and thread, her art explores the visible and invisible worlds of nature. Recent experiments enter the sculptural realm via light and projection.
