Reyn Studios says
Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) is a practice of auto-hypnosis where an individual is guided or guides themselves into deep states of meditation and relaxation that resemble sleep while remaining conscious. The practice is designed to help individuals develop control over subtle states of consciousness and the minutiae of sensation within the body that help regulate sleep patterns and cultivates a sense of waking equanimity throughout the day. Yoga Nidra practice deals specifically with the 5th limb of Patanjali's 8 limbed path (Ashtanga Yoga) called Pratyahara, which means sensory withdrawal, imagine a turtle drawing its limbs into a shell. In this workshop we will start with a light vinyasa practice followed by Pranayama (breathing exercises) and will then be guided into the Yoga Nidra meditation for the duration of the class. The workshop is designed for all levels of practitioners and is a tremendous help for people dealing with insomnia, anxiety, or who simply want to develop more control over their sleeping patterns.
