There’s arguably never been a better time to be a remote worker. All around the world, countries are offering specialist visas for foreign nationals who can work from anywhere – from Bali and Costa Rica to Italy and Uruguay, there are now tonnes of so-called ‘digital nomad visas’ ready to be made the most of.

The latest country to announce a digital nomad visa is none other than Canada. The North American nation is looking to plug a national skills shortage with people who work for foreign companies, chiefly targeting those in the tech industry.

The exact details of Canada’s new scheme haven’t been announced, though it’s worth mentioning that Canadian visa laws are already quite favourable to digital nomads. On a visitor visa alone, remote workers can currently work for up to six months in the country.

So, if you’ve always dreamt of working while you’re high up in the Rockies or in the midst of a buzzy metropolis like Montreal, Vancouver or Toronto, what’re you waiting for? You can find out more details about Canada’s digital nomad proposals on the official government website here. Then keep a watch on this page – we’ll update it as more information about the visa is revealed.
