Picture the scene. You open the curtains in the morning and find yourself facing that view, peering out through a floor-to-ceiling window from a height of 3,500 metres. It’s a mountaineer’s paradise: white peaks, sharp slopes and crystal-clear skies as far as the eye can see.

That’s what’s on offer at this one-off Airbnb that has just opened on the slopes of Mont Blanc. It’s called the Suite Skyway Monte Bianco, and is housed within Punta Helbronner, Europe’s highest cable-car station.

While the views are a pretty strong USP, Skyway has lots more going for it. It was designed as a pop-up retreat for the skiing-obsessed, with guests able to hit the slopes before the upcoming ski season even begins.

The package also includes a special dinner at the Tavolo dell’Infinito restaurant in Punta Helbronner station, as well as exclusive access to the station’s 360-degree rotating platform. Here you can take in views over Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, the Gran Paradiso and the Grand Combin – in other words, all of the Alps’ most famous and impressive mountains.

As you can see, the Skyway itself is decorated like a Bond villain’s lair. In fact, its setting isn’t unlike Blofeld’s base in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

So, if you fancy staying at the highest Airbnb in Europe? You better get your skis ready. Booking opens at 10am CET (9am GMT) on Tuesday, November 23 for one stay on November 27, 2021. Here is the booking link.

And while you’ll no doubt have a lot of competition on that front, there are plenty of other less exclusive high-altitude Airbnbs out there, including this luxurious pad in Peru’s Sacred Valley and this cosy yurt in the hills of Creede, Colorado.
