While last year was a booming year for the travel industry, 2024 looks set to be even bigger. According to Tripadvisor, 90 percent of Brits are planning to go on at least as many holidays as they did in 2023, and many are prepared to travel further than ever before.
To help us dig a little deeper into where the go-to locations for the new year will be, Tripadvisor has just released their annual Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best for 2024, with categories covering the best hotels, destinations, things to do and more.
So where will everyone be heading this year? According to Tripadvisor’s trending destinations, ranking at number one is Tokyo, and at number two, it’s Seoul. Looks like 2024 is the year of the bustling Asian capital – the lively Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh also made the list, as did Kuala Lumpur.
In third? It’s Halong Bay, a dazzling jewel in Vietnam’s coastal crown. The glistening emerald waters, dotted with limestone islands, make for a prime spot for paddleboarding and kayaking tours. Make sure to explore the area as sustainably as you can, though – one of its most iconic attractions is at risk of collapse.
Each entry was included thanks to its massive year-on-year growth. It’s clear from the list below that Asia is trending, as it claims eight of the top 10 spots. Here they are in full.
