These are the best restaurants in the world in 2022, according to TripAdvisor

On the hunt for some inspiration for your next foodie pilgrimage? Well, hunt no further. TripAdvisor has just announced the grub-centric bit of this year’s Travellers’ Choice Awards and revealed its ranking of the best restaurants around the world in 2022. 

Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards chooses the best destinations, attractions, accommodation and more based on ratings and reviews submitted by TripAdvisor users. All the reviews and ratings have been submitted in the past year.

The best restaurant in the world according to TripAdvisor is... The Old Stamp House in the UK’s Lake District! Which won’t be much of a surprise to anyone who’s previously followed the Travellers’ Choice Awards. The Michelin-starred Old Stamp House – which dishes up fancy English classics in the former office of poet William Wordsworth – topped the ranking last year, too.

Second in the list came Oro in Rio de Janeiro, which serves up swish dishes hailing from all over Brazil, while third was Madonnina del Pescatore, a fish-first fine dining estab on Italy’s Adriatic coast.

TripAdvisor didn’t just rank the best restaurants, either. It also split restaurants into categories like ‘picture perfect’ (top was Sunset Monalisa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico) ‘hidden gems’ (Green Point in Cusco, Peru), ‘date night’ (Altto Ristorante & Lounge Bar in Armacao dos Buzios, Brazil) and ‘everyday eats’ (Makars Gourmet Mash Bar in Edinburgh, Scotland).
