What a brilliant idea to add a youthful rooftop to the nearly century-old Hôtel Rochechouart during its 2020 renovation, eh? While its name may have changed (it’s now the Maggie Rooftop), the view is still a surefire way to boost your Insta game. Step out of the lift and you're face-to-dome with the Sacré-Cœur. Over there, the Eiffel Tower – and all around, the endless sea of Paris rooftops. It’s a full 360-degree panorama that Maurice Chevalier, a regular here back in the day, might have called ‘drôlement bath’ (proper lovely).
And once you’ve done the full tour of Maggie (lol), what’s to drink? Excellent cocktails dreamed up by Fabien Hideux (formerly of Hôtel du Collectionneur), like the house Maggie (gin, hibiscus, bergamot liqueur, aquafaba), where the chilli doesn’t overpower the fruit, or the intriguing Truffle Drop – a Martini with truffle oil mellowed out with bergamot. The southern flavours of Gianmarco Gorni, the chef behind the hotel’s ground-floor restaurant, also pop up in the dishes served here, with Emine Jaidene at the helm: grilled prawns with chimichurri, baby squid stuffed with feta and olives… In short, Maggie’s no flash in the pan – and despite the terrace’s Nice-inspired decor (wrought iron, pistachio-green cushions, striped awning, and potted plants), it’s firmly one of Paris’s go-to spots for an apéro.
