3 out of 5 stars

Climb aboard the Explorer and leave feeling as if you’ve had an adventure.

Rates: from €70 per night

Added extras: the giant pirate ship for kids

Services: wifi, restaurant, bar and pool

Hotels are blossoming around the Disneyland Paris Park and it’s becoming ever easier to find somewhere to stay to suit both your taste and your budget. If you’re coming with kids, board the Explorer and revel in the excellent value for money (less than €100 per night).

Welcome to Sir Archibald de Bacle’s mansion: the man sent by Queen Isabella to the African seas to search for diamonds. He faced plenty of pirates en route, plus an immense dragon who sits in the entrance hall and has smoke coming from his nostrils every so often.

There are also plenty of ships that have run aground, serving as a playground for children  indoors, outdoors and under the aquapark’s glass roof. Which means there’s plenty of opportunity to let off steam before battening down the hatches in the themed rooms. Like your kids, you’ll leave having had a proper adventure.
