With its artfully ‘distressed’ walls, blackboards and wooden counters, ‘Baguett’s’ has the cosy, homely feel of a rural family kitchen. It can be tricky to navigate the swarms of chic new cafés in central Paris, but this no-frills address near the Comédie-Française is a safe bet for drinks and breakfast.
There’s a good value breakfast menu at €5.50, which gets you unlimited bread (either baguette or nut and raisin loaf), plus as much jam, Nutella, butter and honey as you like. Another – the ‘Total Baguett’s’ (€12) – is much the same but with an added hot drink and a small glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Alternatively, a warming bowl of porridge with banana or apple (€5.50) or one of their lush-looking homemade pastries.
