Over the last eight weeks, Parisians have nominated, and then voted for their favourite bars, restaurants, shops and cultural centres in each arrondissement. 7000 nominations and 12,000 votes were cast to decide on the Love Paris Awards winners.

The 2016 hall of fame reflects the richness, diversity and energy of Parisian life. Among them, there are the capital’s staples, the unmissable addresses of the city, such as the bar Piano Vache in the hills of Sainte-Geneviève, the Menilmontant bookshop le Monte-en-l'air, the 3rd arrondissement’s hidden cocktail bar Candelaria and even the famous Japanese Higuma in the 1st. La Recyclerie, the bar Les Chaises or the Shakespeare & Company have once again triumphed for 2016, winning the best place in their arrondissement for another year.

We’ve also discovered plenty of new spots in the winners, like quai de la Râpée’s Social Bar, beer-brewing workshop Brew Unique or Animal Kitchen, Point Ephémère's resident kitchen.

Here we reveal the four places that received the most votes overall. Then check out the top venues for each arrondissement here. Congratulations to all the winners!

Housed in a former warehouse for art deco construction materials, Point Ephémère capitilises on its position next to the waters of the Canal Saint-Martin with a great outdoor area. It was made into a 1400 m2 artist's squat in 2004, and rose in popularity - obtaining its permanent status with support from Paris council.

Renaud Seligmann and Social Bar’s 174 other co-founders have taken over a slightly cramped 12th arrondissement establishment and put together a huge program of social activities to get Parisians mingling. And it really works.

Pan Cooker is nothing if not a smart move by the Pan Piper concert space, adding an attractive food offering to their new event space near the Philippe Auguste metro. It's ideal for making more of a buzz in a neighbourhood where new media and communications agencies are busy installing themselves en masse. Pan Cooker has quickly been adopted by these agencies' staff as a chic lunchtime canteen, with its healthy, slick, affordable cooking.
