A Penang native and fellow alumni of the Penang Free School, Dr. Wu Lien-Teh was the first ethnic Chinese nominated for a Nobel Prize in Medicine. Regarded as the first person to modernise China's medical services and medical education, various university departments and hospital buildings in Harbin and Beijing are named after him as well as a museum tributing to Dr. Wu's contribution in public health, preventive medicine and medical education. In honouring his effort, Penang Heritage Trust will be organising a free documentary screening of Dr. Wu Lien-Teh as well as a heritage trail visiting the Penang Free School and Wu Lien-Teh garden located nearby. Register before Mar 5.
