Here’s a place where western food is not only inexpensive at from RM8.50 but it’s reasonably tasty as well. Granted, their meats are pounded thin but they are fresh since there’s a high diner turnover at this place. Open each evening except for Thursday, the place is often packed with families.
Simple in appearance, Hainan Western is a cross between a large, spacious stall and a restaurant. Their menu range from pork, chicken, fish to steaks with the most expensive being a new addition lamb dish at RM21.
We pick their most popular of fish and chips at RM8.50 that is with crisp bread-crumb batter thin piece of fish along with onion-heavy tartar dip. It’s obviously a bestseller with the children with its easy and familiar flavours. The other is the pork chop also at RM8.50 that’s fairly juicy and fresh.
It’s a decent portion and comes with fries and coleslaw. Each dish comes with a bun too. All in all, it’s a hearty enough meal and it’ll keep you satiated without overeating. The service is all right for a place that’s packed and you pay as the food is served. Orders are to be made at the food counter. Kitty Kaye
