I'm so glad to be back in Phoenix for my second time at the Lost Leaf. There will be another singer on before me after I play at 9 pm. Let's do it Feenix.

Caroline Reese grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania, where the rust belt meets Amish country. Her mom ran a horse farm and her dad sold antiques, two facts which inform the old-soul tendencies in her songs.

She combines elements of country, folk, and indie-rock with lyrics that seem to reach far beyond her own life experiences. Her new album, Tenderfoot, released January 6, 2017, deals with vulnerability in life and love. Tenderfoot was recorded at the Headroom Philadelphia (Hopalong) and mixed at Miner Street Recordings (Kurt Vile, War on Drugs, Sharon Van Etten) and recorded with her band, The Drifting Fifth.

Reese wrote her first album in 2010. Since then, she and the Drifting Fifth have toured nationally and opened for Grammy nominees and winners including Chris Stapleton and Brandi Carlile. Reese has also opened up for americana stalwarts John Hiatt, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Corb Lund, Chely Wright, and the Secret Sisters.

"As I said, 11 songs that work seamlessly in tandem with one another, veering from barebones performances to downright powerhouse deliveries. Caroline Reese and The Drifting Fifth have done themselves proud with this release.
Tenderfoot is a top-flight piece of gold."
